The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Essentials, developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada's Opening Minds Program, equips participants with the essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes to support individuals experiencing declining mental health or crisis situations. Through an interactive, eight-section curriculum, learners build the confidence to reduce stigma, recognize early indicators of distress, and apply the practical ALGES framework to offer supportive, non-judgmental assistance. Available in both virtual and in-person formats, this comprehensive 6-hour certificate course also emphasizes the vital role of intentional self-care for first aiders.

Client: Human Resources Branch in collaboration with the Centre of Expertise for Learning and Professional Development (CoELPD).
