Description

The Advisory Committee for Women at Justice will be holding seven Women’s Self-Defence Virtual Workshops in recognition of International Women’s Day. This year’s theme, Accelerate Action emphasizes the urgency of empowering women and challenging the deep-rooted biases and assumptions that undermine women's equality. These self-defence workshops, for women only, will be facilitated by Wen-Do Women’s Self-Defense (https://wendo.ca). Instructors will facilitate discussions that break down and debunk victim-blaming stereotypes and myths that surround women’s self-defence, and recognize the need for broader culture change to prevent violence against women. By offering factual and resource-rich discussions about misogyny, abuse, harassment, and assault, women will have the opportunity to learn and practice physical and verbal self-protection skills and strategies that cover a range of dangerous and/or uncomfortable situations.

NOTE: This course is designed exclusively for women, providing a supportive and empowering environment to enhance learning and growth.
