Description
This virtual forum brings together participants from within and outside the Government of Canada to examine how Black social context information can be used in decision-making in the criminal justice system beyond sentencing. The discussion supports Canada’s Black Justice Strategy and builds on the External Steering Group’s Report, A Roadmap for Transformative Change.
The forum features presentations by two leading Canadian scholars, based on their think piece papers, followed by a moderated discussion.

- Presentations from leading Canadian scholars on the use of Black social context evidence
- Discussion of legal, policy, and operational possibilities for effective use in decisions in the criminal justice system beyond sentencing
- Exploration of how Black social context information can better support rehabilitation
This course is in English, with interpretation available in French.
