Description
This virtual forum will bring together participants from within and outside the Government of Canada to hear about the risks of artificial intelligence (AI) in reinforcing racism, including in risk assessment tools, and some promising practices to build into policies and strategies as AI is deployed, to avoid this impact.
The discussion supports Canada’s Black Justice Strategy and builds on the external Steering Group’s Report, A Roadmap for Transformative Change. It will feature presentations by two leading Canadian scholars, based on their think-piece policy papers, followed by a moderated discussion.
What to Expect
- Insightful presentations from two leading experts on AI
- A focused discussion on risks, and strategies to mitigate those risks
- An opportunity to reflect on how AI can support, not undermine, equality and even help to defeat racism in the criminal justice system
