Description
Target audience: Any federal Government officials who may become involved in the regulatory process during its various stages, including policy officers and Legislative Services Branch personnel.

This training session will be recorded.
At the end of the activity, participants will have a better understanding of the requirements of the Statutory Instruments Act and the process for making regulations at the federal level in Canada.

- Definitions of "statutory instrument" and "regulation" in the SIA and IA
- Categories of “regulations” under the SIA
- UNDA
- Examination of proposed regulations
- Regulatory policy, regulatory impact analysis statements (RIAS) and pre-publication
- Making, registration and publication of regulations
- Exemptions from SIA requirements
- Coming into force of regulations
- Parliamentary scrutiny
- Review and Assessment of Results of Regulation
