Description

Note that while the original presentation was bilingual, the powerpoint is available in both official languages, and the recording is available with either French or English captions.

This course is part of the Disclosure Project Management series offered by National eDiscovery and Litigation Support Services (NeDLSS). Disclosure Project Management is the eDiscovery framework adopted ‎by the Department of Justice.

How do you create search terms? When are they important in litigation or legal research? eDiscovery processes have changed, and the creation of effective search terms at all phases of disclosure project management is more important than ever.

This course discusses how to generate search terms to assist with litigation at the preservation, collection, processing, and document review and analysis phases. It goes through the steps legal professionals should take to prepare to create search terms, with case studies on how to use search terms in different legal research, document review, and document preservation platforms. The presenters also discuss how to create effective search terms using search strings and Boolean connectors in both official languages. The course also emphasizes the importance of refining and documenting the search term process. The presenters go through four scenarios at the end of the course, discussing what was done well, and what could be done better.

Note that while the original presentation was bilingual, the powerpoint is available in both official languages, and the recording is available with either French or English captions.
