The 2024 Legislative Services Branch Learning Day will delve into the evolving legal landscape, focusing on broad themes such as
- Increased deference to administrative decision-making, particularly with respect to regulation-making,
- the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples,
- the impact of artificial intelligence and rules as code on drafting processes,
- the crucial matter of ensuring access to justice through legislative drafting.
Against this backdrop, discussions will encompass the changing nature of our roles, the evolving parameters of our work, and the standard of excellence. We are keen to discuss how recent legal decisions, technological advances, and the imperative to promote access to justice issues have impacted our work.
