Description

This course aims to introduce you to ethical issues that individual legal professionals may face in the course of their legal practice when participating in mediation, and engage you in identifying and assessing them. What actions might you take vis à vis your client, the mediator, and opposing counsel, or the other party, if self-represented? What are the ethical obligations (and related legal issues) of counsel and the mediator (in the mediation context)?

Learning Objectives:

1. Increase legal professionals’ professional competence with regard to:

a) Ethical practice

b) The assessment of ethical issues

c) Relationships with clients, opposing counsel and mediators; and,

2. Increase legal professionals’ knowledge of ethical obligations and related legal issues in the mediation context.

Registration deadline: 5 working days prior to the course date.

Participants are responsible for adding their training activities to their Outlook calendars.
