CIPL’s Learning Day is for Justice Counsel interested in major issues relating to the Access to information Act and Privacy Act. 2023 marks the 40th anniversary of the coming-into-force of these Acts, which was a significant step in protecting personal information and providing access to records under the control of the Government of Canada. Recognized as quasi-constitutional in nature, these Acts remain fundamental today.

The theme of the conference centers on taking stock of the last forty years of Privacy and Information Law, with a public sector focus, and looking ahead to where these areas are headed, as well as what the legal, ethical and social implications are.
