Description

Designed to introduce Justice employees to the "interest-based" or "principled" model of negotiation developed by the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation. Participants are taught the elements of interest-based negotiation, which is fundamental to negotiating effectively, as well as the range of choices available for resolving differences and settling cases. They will gain insight into the importance of effective communication and have the opportunity to learn and to apply, through interactive exercises and simulations, the key stages of negotiation: preparation, identifying issues, exploring interests, generating options and formalizing a negotiated agreement.
