Description

Hosted by the Advisory Committee for Women at Justice, this catered and hybrid (in person and virtual/TEAMS) event includes presentations, panel discussions, and break-out groups that will focus on the barriers, norms and systems that continue to undermine substantive equality for women in the Department of Justice. Attendees will explore policy solutions that could be proposed to help shatter the glass ceiling for women. Networking, active participation by attendees, and cross-pollination of ideas with be emphasized. 

By the end of this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  • Articulate and understand the systemic barriers to substantive equality for women at Justice and the need for continued action
  • Understand the occupational, geographical and demographic factors that are associated with lower promotion rates for women specifically
  • Understand how systems, policies and practices can be leveraged or changed to help remove barriers for women
  • Identify opportunities to actively participate in removing barriers that prevent substantive equality for women and contribute meaningfully to policy change

• Amy Smeltzer, Legal Counsel and Chair of the Advisory Committee for Women at Justice
