Description

This presentation will very briefly introduce the long history of Muslim presence in Canada. The presentation will focus on the more distant past, from the 19th century up to the mid-20th century: defending Canada in the War of 1812, helping abolish slavery, building close relations with Indigenous peoples, surviving the Great Depression, building Canada’s first mosque, pioneering new forms of poetry, and so much more.

To simulate a classroom experience, this course is centred around participant engagement and group work.
