This presentation provides an overview of the Accessible Canada Initiative, focusing on the Accessible Canada Act, Accessibility Standards Canada, Accessible Canada Regulations, the process of standards-making, as well as select relevant legal matters that Legal Services has advised on. It outlines the purpose, approach, and objectives of the Act, the roles and responsibilities of key players, and the development and implementation of accessibility standards. The presentation also discusses the planning and reporting requirements, enforcement mechanisms, and the involvement of Canadians with disabilities in the process.
