Dates:
- English Session - 2 days of 2.5 hours on September 27 and 28, 2023 (1:00 to 3:30 ET)
- French Session - 2 days of 2.5 hours on September 20 and 21, 2023 (1:00 to 3:30 ET)
At the end of this two part activity, you will have a better understanding of the various steps of the legislative process, from Cabinet approval of policy to the coming into force of Acts.
Topics covered:
- Cabinet approval process, drafting bills and parliamentary enactment
- Submission to and Cabinet approval of memoranda to Cabinet
- Drafting procedures
- Government House Leader review
- Royal recommendation
- Introduction and readings in each House
- Committee stage
- Amendments, royal assent and coming into force.
