Description
This course is part of the Disclosure Project Management series offered by National eDiscovery and Litigation Support Services. Disclosure Project Management is the eDiscovery framework adopted by the Department of Justice. This course focuses on the Review and Analysis Phase of the Disclosure Project Management Framework.
This course reviews the common law privileges and provisions of the Canada Evidence Act that most often apply to the document review performed by Justice legal professionals.
The first part of the course provides an overview of solicitor-client privilege, litigation privilege, and settlement privilege, as well as practical tips on how to use Ringtail to search for common law privileges.
The second part of the course looks at ss. 37-39 of the Canada Evidence Act, as well as how to use Ringtail to search for documents that may be exempted by virtue of the Canada Evidence Act.
The third part of the course requires participants to apply their knowledge and determine whether a document is subject to privilege or an exemption under the Canada Evidence Act.
