Description
Learn how to manage business documents in the Justice Canada Digital Workspace (DW), the official corporate repository that provides functional websites for teams to collaborate and save documents of corporate value. The DW comes with an extensive variety of features that allow users to collaborate effectively and efficiently while while complying with the department's digital Information Management best practices.
This three-hour learning activity will demonstrate how to manage business information according to the Department's Standard on Managing Digital Information, including concepts such as "open by default" and "store once reuse many times". Participants will learn how to navigate Collaboration Sites, as well as how to store and manage documents of business value within the corporate document management system. Hands on interactive activities include creating, saving and uploading documents, applying metadata, sharing documents, searching and retrieving documents, managing document versions, finalizing official documents and deleting transitory information. Additional features covered in this course are: Alert Me, Copy/Move, Calendars, Discussions and a segment on Justice employee's personal Digital Workspace "JustMe".

Learning objectives:
By the end of this learning activity, participants will be able to:
- Use the basic user functionalities within the Digital Workspace to store and manage information according to the Department's Standard on Managing Digital Information
- Describe the source and meaning of "Open by default" and explain its purpose and impact on the Digital Workspace environment.
- Navigate Collaboration Sites.
- Collaborate effectively with peers by leveraging the tools and features available with DW.
- Manage documents including: creating, saving uploading and sharing documents; applying metadata; searching, filtering and finding documents, managing document versions, finalizing official documents and deleting transitory documents.
- Use the basic document library features including: Alert Me, Copy/Move, Calendars, Discussions, and Personal Views.
