Description

Please note that this is a 2-day course

This workshop aims to enhance the legal and professional capacities of employees and managers of the Department of Justice Canada by building confidence in having conversations on difficult topics with employees, or colleagues in such a way as to preserve the relationship, and increase the level of trust and collaboration between them.

The Workshop will provide participants with practical tools to address barriers to effective conversations, as well as opportunities to put the tools into practice, using role-playing and group exercises.

To simulate a classroom experience, this course is centred around participant engagement and group work. To ensure that facilitators can organize breakout rooms with the correct number of participants and the group can fully benefit from these activities, we ask that you create space in your schedule to remain present for the entire session. If you need to step away from the session briefly, please advise the training facilitator at the beginning of the session.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify common and personal triggers and beliefs around conversations that can be difficult;
  • Effectively engage in conversations;
  • Integrate principles from the field of behavioural neuroscience to better understand how the brain works and why conversations can be difficult; and
  • Apply that same knowledge in order to have collaborative conversations.
