Description
Please note that this course is only open to Justice Canada Legal Professionals, including Justice Canada Legal Professionals working in Departmental Legal Services Units (DLSUs).
Please note that the French title for this course has been updated from "Titre autochtone" to "Titre ancestral."
This course will allow participants to further their knowledge of Aboriginal law through a focus on the specific topic of Aboriginal title. Participants will learn what Aboriginal title is and what evidence is required to prove Aboriginal title, having regard to key jurisprudential developments and the various components of the Aboriginal title test. Some of the practical implications of a finding of Aboriginal title will also be discussed, along with key outstanding legal issues in this area and recent litigation developments.

Presented by the Aboriginal Law Centre, Indigenous Rights and Relations Portfolio in collaboration with the Legal Practices Policy Division (LPPD).
