Antisemitism did not begin with the Holocaust, nor did it die with the defeat of Nazism in 1945. Antisemitism has been called one of the world’s oldest forms of hatred, dating back more than 2,000 years in the archeological record to Greek and Roman sources.
Apologies and the Law
When is it okay to say you’re sorry? Governments cannot be compelled to apologize, but increasingly it is the first step in a reconciliation process. This session will provide an overview of what constitutes an apology, as well as the evolution of apology laws in the United States, Australia and Canada. It will also highlight some of the important Canadian jurisprudential developments in a post apology law era, and provide some general guidelines on when it is okay to say you’re sorry, not to mention advise your client that it is alright to apologize.
Armed Intruder and Lockdown Situation Training - Do You Know What To Do
Each employee of the Department of Justice has a role to play in maintaining a healthy and safe working environment! The Armed Intruder: Do you know what to do? sessions, presented by the Safety, Security and Emergency Management Division (SSEMD), provide information to departmental staff to assist them in developing their personal action plan in the event of an armed intruder entering the workplace.

ATIP Fundamentals for Litigators
We have developed a new in-class course for litigators who have carriage of litigation files arising under the Access to Information Act and Privacy Act. The course aims to provide litigators with an introduction to ATIP law. It will also explain to litigators the specific legal and procedural issues that arise in Access to Information Act and Privacy Act judicial review applications.

Basic Principles of Aboriginal Law
Presentation on the general principles of Aboriginal law and recent cases from the Supreme Court of Canada dealing with Aboriginal issues. Participants will gain a basic understanding of the constitutional and legal framework governing Aboriginal rights and issues in Canada.
